Women's Lacrosse Falls, 15-11, at Muhlenberg

(box score)

Widener fought its way back to make things interesting at Muhlenberg, but in the end was handed a 15-11 setback in Allentown, PA.

The Pride did not quit when they were in a 15-7 hole with just over 14 minutes left.  Senior Laura Kalbach (Lancaster, PA) scored with 11:20 left and sophomore Mackenzie Lindquist (Ocean City, NJ) followed suit just over three minutes later for a 15-9 deficit.

Kalbach scored again with 7:35 to play, but Muhlenberg was able to control the ball for most of the next six minutes and Widener's scoring touch unfortunately went cold.  Sophomore Megan Granata (Broomall, PA) scored with 1:47 remaining for a 15-11 contest, but it was not enough.

Kalbach scored four goals for her second hat trick of the season with Lindquist getting two goals, four ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers for the Pride (2-3).  Sophomore Pinky Schneider (Moorestown, NJ) dished two assists, freshman Meghan Garvey (Landenberg, PA) had four ground balls and sophomore Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) added 10 saves.

Stephanie Umbach scored four times with Molly Davin and Casey Armstrong adding three goals apiece for the Mules.  Tiffany Kreider amassed eight saves.

Muhlenberg (4-1) originally broke open the contest by scoring the first six goals of the second half for a 14-6 lead.  Armstrong scored three goals with Michelle Certosimo adding two.

Widener is back on the road Saturday at Gwynedd-Mercy, starting at noon in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
