Men's Basketball Dealt 75-59 Loss by Alvernia

Widener played strong throughout against first-place Alvernia, but ended with a tough 75-59 Commonwealth Conference loss in Reading, PA.
 
The first half saw the Pride shoot 50 percent (12-of-24) from the field with three 3-pointers and only trail, 37-33, thanks to seven points from freshman David Nicholson (Odenton, MD).  Unfortunately, the Crusaders also shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the floor and hit four 3-pointers.
 
Alvernia began to pull away early in the second half, using an 11-3 run over 2 1/2 minutes to open a 56-42 lead with 13 minutes left.  Terrance Bridgers scored five points in the run, ending it on a pair of free throws.
 
The Crusaders shot 43 percent (13-of-30) from the field in the second half and limited the Pride to only 27 percent (8-of-30).
 
Nicholson scored 14 points off the bench, sophomore Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ) had 10 and seven rebounds with junior Andrew Radomicki (Media, PA) adding nine points for Widener (6-17, 5-11 CC).
 
Brian Parker poured in 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting as all starters scored in double figures for Alvernia (19-4, 13-3).  Lamont Clark netted 14, Bridgers scored 13, Chris Davis had 12 and Kahlil Bennett added 11.
 
Widener is home Tuesday against Messiah for an 8:00 pm tip-off.
