Men's and Women's Swimming Falls at Albright

Widener ran into tough competition in its annual dual with Middle Atlantic Conference rival Albright, but saw the men handed a 111-89 setback the women dropping a 112-88 meet in Reading, PA.

The men saw Ian Gaynor (Donegal, Ireland) continue what has been an impressive freshman campaign to date, winning the 100-yard freestyle in a school and Middle Atlantic Conference record 46.77 seconds. He also was on the winning 200-yard medley relay squad that included senior Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA), sophomore Andy Madore (State College, PA) and sophomore Stephen Ranalli (Wildwood, NJ).

Senior All-America Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) broke the pool record in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.59 seconds and also won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.89. Senior Sara Leonelli (Vineland, NJ) captured the 100-yard freestyle in 57.11 seconds.

Widener next Saturday will compete in a quad-meet against league rivals Messiah, FDU-Florham and Hood. The meet in Grantham, PA starts at 1:00 pm.
