Widener played to a draw with Albright, 1-1, in Commonwealth Conference play in Reading, PA.

Widener (13-1-3, 3-1-2 CC) entered third in the conference, one position ahead of Albright (7-6-2, 3-2-1).

Albright took the early lead in the 13th minute when Emily Sousa scored her eighth goal of the season off a pass from Rebecca Sartorio.

Only 90 seconds later, junior Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) evened the score at 1-1. Senior midfielder Julia Flower (Burlington, CT) took a free kick from the left side that soared into the Albright box. Pedrick ran in from the right side and headed the ball past goalkeeper Alexis Lorusso for her sixth goal of the year. Pedrick's six goals put her in a tie with senior Kelly Buckley (Villanova, Pa) for seventh place in the conference.

In the 79th minute, senior Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ) had her best opportunity of the day when she carried the ball past a defender and into the Albright box. Thomas drilled a shot to the right side, but Lorusso was able to make a diving save and push the ball out of bounds.

With 35 seconds left in regulation, Pedrick was fouled at half field. Flower hit the free kick into the top of the opposing box. Buckley received the ball, dribbled past a defender and took a high shot from the right side. Lorusso caught the ball over her head to finish off regulation and head into overtime.

Widener dominated possession time in both overtime periods but could not come up with that winning goal. With the tie, Widener and Albright go to fifth and sixth in the conference, respectively.

On defense senior Valarie Perretti (Clayton, NJ) made eight saves to keep her team alive and junior Stephanie Dickinson (Sicklerville, NJ) controlled the back line from the center back position.

Widener will return home on Saturday to face off against nationally ranked Messiah at 5:00 pm.
