Men's Basketball Cruises to 69-50 Triumph Over Lebanon Valley

Widener pulled away from Lebanon Valley with a huge run early in the second half en route to a 69-50 Commonwealth Conference win at Schwartz Center.
 
Widener held a 32-26 lead early in the second half before going on a 16-2 burst to open a 48-28 cushion with 12:22 remaining.  Rodney Brown (Lake Valley, NJ) netted six points in the run, ending it on a jumper, and fellow junior Connor Dean (Woodbine, NJ) added four.
 
It was part of a half in which the Pride shot 52 percent (17-of-33) from the floor that included 12-of-24 from two-point range and five 3-pointers.  Brown could not be stopped in the half with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
 
Brown closed with 24 points, one shy of his career best set January 5 against Lycoming, to go with six 3-pointers and eight rebounds.  Dean played solidly with 10 points and seven rebounds with junior Bob Makor (Philadelphia, PA) adding eight rebounds.
 
Danny Brooks scored 15 points with 11 coming in the first half and added seven rebounds for the Dutchmen, who shot only 36 percent (19-of-53) from the field and 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.
 
The Pride established early momentum with a 30-22 halftime lead thanks to Brown's 10 points.  The Dutchmen shot only 32 percent (7-of-22) from the field in the half, missing all five 3-point attempts.
 
Widener is back on the road Saturday for a long trip to Williamsport against Lycoming.  Game time is 3:00 pm, following the women's 1:00 pm contest.
