Men's Soccer Handed 3-2 Loss at Ursinus

Widener almost eradicated a three-goal deficit, but in the end was dealt a 3-2 loss at Ursinus in Collegeville, PA.
 
The Bears (1-1) struck first in the 26th minute when Ryan Butler scored off a free kick for a 1-0 lead.  Dean Dersimonian added an unassisted marker in the 55th minute and Christian Cruz tallied off Charles Brodsky's assist for a 3-0 margin.
 
Widener made a game of it in the 71st minute when senior Drew Hilinski (Perkasie, PA) scored for a 3-1 contest.  The Pride (0-3) were not done as senior DJ DiPaola (Havertown, PA) found the back of the net in the 75th minute off a feed from sophomore Troy Czapor (Richboro, PA).
 
The Pride's last great chance to tie came in the 87th minute when freshman Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) fired a shot that was saved by Kieran Keyser.
 
DiPaola and senior Joe Brydges (Philadelphia, PA) each took four shots and junior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) made five saves for Widener.
 
Butler closed with seven shots and Keyser had nine saves for the Bears.
 
Widener on Saturday visits D'Youville for a 7:00 pm match.
