Men's Soccer Posts 3-0 Shutout at Gwynedd-Mercy

Widener took control early of its match against Gwynedd-Mercy and prevailed with a 3-0 shutout in Gwynedd-Valley, PA.

 
Freshman Malik Krcic (Saylorsburg, PA) got things rolling for the Pride in the 14th minute, taking a feed from senior Joe Brydges (Philadelphia, PA) and scoring his first collegiate goal.
 
Brydges was on the spot for the second goal in the 52nd minute.  He got the ball and fed a pass to senior DJ DiPaola (Havertown, PA), who beat Greg Gengaro for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
 
Alec DelConte (North Cape May, NJ) closed the scoring in the 82nd minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from fellow freshman Grant Shaffer (Glen Rock, PA).
 
DiPaola took three shots and junior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) made two saves for the Pride (2-5-1), who had a 13-6 shots edge.
 
Dan Panepresso had three shots and Gengaro came up with two saves for the Griffins (2-7).
 
Widener on Wednesday hosts Berkeley College, starting at 7:00 pm.
