Karen Thomas Scores Twice for Women's Soccer in 4-0 Victory at Del Val

Junior Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ) notched her second career two-goal game and added an assist for Widener in a 4-0 blanking of Delaware Valley in Doylestown, PA.

Thomas wasted listed time as she took a cross from junior Kelly Buckley (Villanova, PA) in the sixth minute and buried one past Julie Burnell to give Widener a 1-0 lead. Thomas assisted on the second goal, feeding a cross to sophomore Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) in the 27th minute for a 2-0 Pride cushion.

Thomas netted her third of the season as junior Amanda Doran (Philadelphia, PA) got the assist 85 seconds into the second half for a 3-0 Widener lead. Buckley took advantage of a defensive lapse three minutes later and found an open net to close the scoring.

Thomas also had two goals and an assist against Medgar Evers on September 10, 2010.

Buckley ended with four shots and senior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) had six saves for the Pride (2-3-1).

Burnell closed with eight saves for the Aggies (2-5).

Widener on Saturday visits FDU-Florham for a 3:30 pm match in Madison, NJ.
