Women’s Soccer Falls 5-0 To Wilkes

Widener held the score to a draw going into halftime, but suffered a 5-0 loss when Wilkes stepped up its offense in the second half today at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
 
The Pride (1-3-1) put up five shots in the game, but could not get past Lady Colonel Keepers to find the back of the net. At the 50 minute mark, Wilkes forward Alicia Roberts got one past Widener keeper Valarie Perretti (Clayton, NJ) to made the score 1-0. Less than three minutes later, she scored two more for a hat trick with an assist going to Priscilla Bonilla on the second of three.
 
Two more goals were scored for the Lady Colonels (4-2) at the 75 and 87 minute marks to give them a 5-0 lead over Widener.
 
For the Pride, Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ), Nicole Foschini (Laurel Springs, NJ), Martha Lowitz (Philadelphia, PA), Ashley Petrosky (Lititz, PA) and Gina Scotto (Hatfield, PA) each put up one shot.
 
Brae McQuade (Princeton Junct., NJ), Nicole Repetto (Glen Mills, PA) and Stephanie Dickinson (Sicklerville, NJ) led the defense with some key plays to try to keep the Pride in the game.
 
Perretti played 62 minutes between the posts, allowing three goals and making six saves. Freshman Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, PA) stepped in for 28 minutes, allowing two goals and making three saves.
 
Widener travels to Delaware Valley for its next game on Thursday, September 20 beginning at 4:00 pm.
