Women's Soccer Handed 1-0 Loss at Rutgers-Camden

Widener gave up a corner kick in the first half and despite a decided shots edge in the second half, was on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision at Rutgers-Camden in Camden, NJ.
 
The Scarlet Raptors (2-4) scored in the 27th minute when Sarah Kooistra floated a corner kick that deflected in for one of only three shots on goal in the period for the home team.
 
Widener (1-2-1) in the second half had a 10-3 shots edge as part of a 16-12 margin for the game.  It had three corner kicks in the last four minutes, but could not convert as junior Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ) put a shot wide in the 89th minute.
 
Thomas ended with 11 shots and senior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) came up with six saves for the Pride.
 
Lauren West amassed four saves for Rutgers-Camden.
 
Widener is home Saturday against Wilkes as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's game is at 1:00 pm and the men's contest vs. Neumann is at 4:00 pm.
