Field Hockey Dealt 6-2 Loss at Eastern

Widener rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie, but in the end was handed a 6-2 loss by Eastern at St. Davids, PA.

Kelby Bolton scored twice in the first 17 minutes to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Widener (1-3) responded in the form of Meghan Garvey (Landenberg, PA), who continued her solid freshman campaign by netting a pair in the last five minutes of the first half for a 2-2 tie.

But Eastern (2-2) netted four goals in the second half for the win. Kaycie Andrew scored the decider in the 41st minute with Brittany Moyer, Jess Jaindl and Megan Bolton also finding the back of the cage.

Garvey, who leads the Pride with four goals, ended with four shots as did senior Nicole Nardone (Garwood, NJ). Nardone and senior Brittany Creighton (Pitman, NJ) each had an assist and sophomore Maggie Karmeris (Wilmington, DE) made seven saves over 58 minutes.

Moyer took seven shots and Veronica Rayer had four saves over 63 1/2 minutes for Eastern.

Widener on Friday visits Wilkes for a 7:00 pm match in Edwardsville, PA.
