Women's Lacrosse Handed 17-16 Loss at Cabrini

Junior Laura Kalbach (Lancaster, PA) scored a career-high five goals, but time simply ran out on Widener in a 17-16 loss at Cabrini in Radnor, PA.
 
Kalbach scored with 8:07 left to give Widener a 15-13 lead, but Cabrini rattled off the next four goals to grab a 17-15 cushion with 2:09 left.  Ali May netted the tying goal for the Cavaliers with six minutes to play and Jacky McDermott broke the tie with 3:05 remaining.
 
The Pride (6-8) closed to 17-16 with 1:41 to go when Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) scored off a feed from fellow senior Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ).  Widener got the ball back after Lacie Doubet committed a turnover for Cabrini, but the Cavaliers gained possession after a Pride turnover and milked the clock.
 
Kalbach came off the bench to net her total as she posted four goals in the second half.  Junior Julia Costello (Brookhaven, PA) had four goals, two assists and eight draw controls, freshman Mackenzie Lindquist (Woodbine, NJ) scored three goals and Porter had two and two assists.  Freshman Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) made 15 saves for the Pride.
 
Melissa Scanzano scored five times, Christi Pasquariello recorded three goals and two assists with McDermott getting three and one for Cabrini (8-8).  Janel Folkomer came up with seven saves.
 
Costello scored four goals in the opening half for Widener, which netted the last five tallies in the period to open a 9-6 lead.  In that last spurt, Costello scored three times with Porter and Kalbach getting one each.
 
Widener hits the road Saturday to visit Elizabethtown for a noon start.
