Women's Lacrosse Loses Overtime Heartbreaker To Lebanon Valley

Widener for the second straight year went to overtime against Lebanon Valley and for the second straight year was dealt a tough loss with this year being a 19-16 Commonwealth Conference setback.
 
Widener (6-7, 2-3 CC) scored three straight goals in the final 4 1/2 minutes to pull into a 15-15 tie.  Senior Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) and freshman Angie Goff (Monmouth Junction, NJ) each tallied to pull the Pride closer and freshman Mackenzie Lindquist (Ocean City, NJ) netted the free-position equalizer with 50 seconds left.
 
However, the overtime was all Lebanon Valley (9-5, 4-1).  Bailey Benz scored 49 seconds in and Hana Krechel netted the last two in the three-minute opening half for an 18-15 contest.
 
The second half saw LVC's Taylor Kruter score with 1:58 to play and Harnden tally 38 seconds later for the final.
 
Senior Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) scored five goals with Harnden getting four and one assist for the Pride.  Lindquist ended with three goals, junior Julia Costello (Brookhaven, PA) had two and three assists and freshman Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) made seven saves over 42 minutes.
 
Krechel could not be stopped as she ended with nine goals and four assists for the Dutchmen.  Benz and Mel Modrick netted three apiece and Corinne Palombo made six saves over 53 minutes for LVC.
 
Widener, which last year was dealt a 15-14 overtime loss at Lebanon Valley, visits Cabrini on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm start in Radnor, PA.
