Baseball Cruises to 12-4 Victory Over King’s

(box score)

Widener used two early home runs and great pitching en route to a 12-4 victory over King's at Diamond Nation in Flemington, NJ.

Senior Dan Sieracki (Cherry Hill, NJ) began things in the top of the first inning by smacking a two-run homer for his sixth long ball of the season, one short of a personal best, and 23rd career.  Senior Bill Hollingsworth (Drexel Hill, PA) followed with a solo home run for his first of the season and fifth career.

Royersford, PA senior Jason Ferrie (4-2) made it stand by striking out seven over six strong innings.  He permitted only three runs, seven hits and one walk.  Freshman Marc Noyalis (Dallas, PA) and Hollingsworth combined to allow just a run and three hits over three relief innings.

Colin Weiss (Red Hill, PA) had two hits and three RBI with junior Brendan O'Brien (Coatesville, PA) and fellow sophomore Kyle Summers (Mohnton, PA) getting two hits and two RBI apiece.

The Pride (20-15) have reached 20 victories for a team-record eighth straight year.

Widener on Monday visits ninth-ranked Keystone, starting at 3:30 pm in La Plume, PA.
