Baseball Falls, 11-4, At No. 16 Rowan

Widener fell into an early hole and could not climb out in an 11-4 setback at No. 16 Rowan in Glassboro, NJ.
 
The Profs (18-8) scored four times in the bottom of the third inning thanks to its last four in the lineup for a 6-1 lead.  Casey Grimes drew a bases-loaded walk, Felix Cloarte was hit by a pitch with the sacks fill, Brandon Winkler had an RBI single and Nick Krieger grounded into a double play for another run.
 
Widener (17-12) tried to make things interesting by plating three in the seventh for a 9-4 deficit.  Sean Saverio (Hatboro, PA) had a fielder's choice to score a run, fellow senior Bill Hollingsworth (Drexel Hill, PA) had an RBI single through the right side and junior Dennis Hocker (Coral Springs, FL) added an RBI groundout.
 
Norristown, PA freshman Robert Barth (2-2) was charged with six runs and six hits over two-plus innings for the Pride, who had just four hits.
 
Nick Turano had three hits with Grimes and Marc Magliaro adding two apiece for the Profs.  Seven pitchers combined to record nine strikeouts and yield just one earned run.
 
Widener is home Wednesday against Penn State Brandywine, starting at 4:00 pm.
