Women's Lacrosse Handed 18-9 Loss at Swarthmore

Widener could not build on early momentum at Swarthmore and was dealt an 18-9 loss.

Senior Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) scored the game's first goal just 2:37 in to give Widener a 1-0 lead. But Swarthmore rattled off the next nine within a span of just over four minutes to grab a 9-1 cushion. Nicole Vanchieri netted three goals in that burst for the Garnet (3-1).

Junior Julia Costello (Brookhaven, PA) scored three goals and amassed six draw controls for the Pride (2-2). Senior Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) and junior Laura Kalbach (Lancaster, PA) netted two goals apiece.

Annalise Perkins closed with five goals and two assists with Vanchieri getting four goals, two assists and seven draw controls for the Garnet. Corinne Sommi and Sara Lentricchia each finished with a hat trick.

Widener has nine days to prepare for Goucher, which it will face on March 24 at 1:00 pm Baltimore, MD.
