Women's Lacrosse Opens Season With 15-3 Loss to Muhlenberg

Widener ran into a formidable foe in Muhlenberg and was handed a 15-3 setback in both teams season opener at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Muhlenberg (1-0) opened a 12-2 halftime lead thanks to three goals apiece from Angela Napoletano and Michelle Certosimo. The Mules gained a 24-8 shots edge in the half.

Stephanie Umbach and Alex Bellini each scored twice, Kelsey Elmer recorded three assists and Tiffany Kreider made nine saves for the Mules.

Senior Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA), Lauren Staedt (Drexel Hill, PA) and fellow junior Laura Kalbach (Lancaster, PA) all scored for the Pride (0-1). Freshman Megan Dunn (Oxford, PA) made 11 saves.

Widener on Saturday opens a five-game road trip as it visits Arcadia, beginning at 1:00 pm in Glenside, PA.
