Men’s Basketball Loses 81-60 To No. 10 Cabrini In Coaches vs. Cancer Classic

Widener traveled to Aston, PA to take on 10th-ranked Cabrini in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic and came home with an 81-60 loss.

Widener (0-3) scored 30 points in the first half of the game, shooting 12-for-31 in field goals and 100 percent at the line. Then men battled through the second half, but fell short scoring another 30 points to 43 for Cabrini (3-1).

Rob McPherson (Bowie, MD) and Rodney Brown (Lake Valley, NJ) led the scoring for the Pride, totaling 14 and 12 points, respectively. They each also blocked one shot. Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ) gathered eight rebounds, three on offense and five on defense. Brown, along with Ryan Abel (Huntingdon Valley, PA), shot 100 percent from the line.

Widener on Wednesday will host the Elizabethtown Blue Jays for its first Commonwealth Conference game at 8:00 pm as game two of a men's and women's doubleheader.
