No. 12 Football to Take Part in Coach to Cure MD on Saturday

No. 12 Widener is proud to take part in Coach to Cure MD during its home contest Saturday against Albright.

Coach to Cure MD is a nationwide project designed to build awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and raise money to support researchers trying to find a treatment and cure.   The day is part of a corporation between the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest non-profit organization in the United States focused entirely on Muscular Dystrophy.

Coach Isaac Collins and his staff will show their support for the cause by wearing Coach to Cure MD patches during the game, which begins at 1:00 pm.

Widener (7-0, 6-0 MAC) is coming off an incredible 28-23 victory Saturday at Lycoming to take over first place in the Middle Atlantic Conference.  The Pride scored two touchdowns in the last five minutes, including a 34-yard strike from senior Chris Haupt (Bloomsburg, PA) to sophomore Anthony Davis (Upland, PA) with 17 seconds left.

The defense also got it done as senior middle linebacker Joe Wojceichowski (Riverside, NJ) had 15 tackles, including 13 solos, and was named to the MAC Weekly Honor Roll.
