Women’s Soccer Suffers 6-0 Loss To No. 2 Messiah

Widener traveled to Grantham, PA to take on No. 2 Messiah and left with a 6-0 Commonwealth Conference loss.
 
Messiah (14-1-1, 7-0 CC) scored its first goal just under the seven minute mark, and Widener held them off until the 58th minute when Anne Trapp scored the second followed by Nikki Elsaesser less than a minute later for the third. Between the 75th and 86th minute, Kate Shults scored one and Mackenzie Clapper scored twice to keep the Falcons' conference record as undefeated.
 
Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) and Kelly Buckley (Villanova, PA) put up the only two Widener (5-9-1, 2-5 CC) shots. Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) spent 65:47 in goal, allowing three goals and making eight saves. Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, PA) finished the game and allowed three goals.
 
Widener on Wednesday, October 24, will travel to Lebanon Valley for another Commonwealth Conference game, beginning at 4:00 pm.
