Wright's Big First Half Helps Men's Basketball to Critical 64-54 Win at Lebanon Valley

Senior Perry Wright (Severn, MD) scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half and helped a key run for Widener, which recorded a huge 64-54 Commonwealth Conference victory at Lebanon Valley in Annville, PA.
 
Wright and junior Trey Severs (Ocean City, NJ) each scored six points during a half-ending 20-7 run that gave Widener a 38-26 lead.  Wright shot 5-of-6 from the field and hit all four of his 3-point attempts in the half for the Pride, who shot 52 percent (15-of-29) from the floor and limited the Dutchmen to just 36 percent (11-of-31) in the stanza.
 
The Pride (12-6, 3-4 CC) continued their spurt in the second half by scoring six straight points, including four from junior Rob McPherson (Bowie, MD), to open a 50-33 cushion with 14:12 remaining.  Widener led by no fewer than eight points the rest of the way in notching its first league win of the season on the road.
 
Wright shot 8-of-14 from the floor to go with seven rebounds and four 3-pointers for Widener, which shot 46 percent (25-of-54) from the field and drilled seven from beyond the arc.  Senior Brian Smith (Baltimore, MD) scored 10 points, McPherson netted eight and senior Jack Brennan (Stratford, NJ) contributed seven and 10 rebounds.
 
Danny Brooks had 20 points and nine rebounds with Joe Meehan, the league's second leading scorer, held seven points below his average with 11 for LVC (10-8, 3-4).  Jordan Stewart added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Dutchmen, who shot 37 percent (23-of-63) from the floor.
 
Widener on Saturday visits Alvernia for a 3:00 pm start in Reading, PA.
