Men's Soccer Handed 1-0 Loss by Rutgers-Camden in its Season Opener

Widener gave its best in its season opener, only to suffer a 1-0 loss to Rutgers-Camden at the Garnet Alumni Classic in Swarthmore, PA.

The Scarlet Raptors (1-0) scored in the fifth minute as Bobby Foster tallied off a feed from Mitch Grotti.

Senior Gareth Cooper (Royersford, PA), junior DJ DiPaola (Havertown, PA) and senior Dan Lorenzet (Forest Hill, MD) all had two shots for the Pride (0-1). Sophomore Dan Price (Norristown, PA) made five saves.

Grotti and Chris Edelschein had three shots apiece and Tim VanLiew totaled seven saves for Rutgers-Camden.

Widener on Sunday battles Immaculata at 2:00 pm in Swarthmore, PA.
