Men's Soccer Brings The Game To OT, But Ends In A 1-1 Tie With Cabrini

(boxscore)

Dan Lorenzet (Forest Hill, MD) scored off of a penalty kick to bring Widener into a 1-1 tie with Cabrini, but neither team could settle the score.

The Pride (2-5-1) fell behind in the 39th minute when Ryan Cerrato scored the first goal of the game for Cabrini (5-3-1) into the top corner of the net. It seemed as if Widener was running out of time, until Lorenzet was awarded a penalty kick and scored his first goal of the season in the 86th minute.

The game was forced into double overtime, where each team only had one shot apiece.  Widener outshot the Cavaliers 16-7. Goalkeeper Dan Price (Norristown, PA) made three saves. Lorenzet took five total shots, DJ DiPaola (Havertown, PA) took three of his own and Emmette Kemokai (Upper Darby, PA) added two.

Widener's next home game is Wednesday as it takes on Berkeley College starting at 7:00 pm.
