Thomas' Late Goal Gives Women's Soccer 1-0 Triumph Over Rutgers-Camden

(boxscore)

Sophomore Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ) scored in the 85th minute off a great pass from junior Devan Doyle (Woodbury Heights, NJ) in a 1-0 Widener victory over Rutgers-Camden at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Doyle got the ball on the right side and fed a perfect ball to Thomas, who struck one from 15 yards just inside the top right corner for her first goal of the season and third career.

The goal punctuated a match in which the Pride (2-2-1) owned a decided 12-2 shots edge.  Thomas and freshman Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) each had three shots and junior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) made one save.

Leighanna Milby made five saves for the Scarlet Raptors (0-3-1).

Widener on Saturday hits the road to visit Wilkes at 3:30 pm in Edwardsville, PA.
