Junior Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) totaled seven points, lifting Widener to a 20-11 Middle Atlantic Conference win over Misericordia in Dallas, PA.
Freshman Amy Albano (Columbia, MD) opened the scoring just 40 seconds into the contest, and senior Calina Walz (Medford, NJ) made it 2-0 just 1:25 later.
Senior Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ) and junior Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) scored just 25 seconds apart in the seventh minute to give Widener a 4-1 lead. Porter and Broomall each tallied in the final minute of the first half, just 16 seconds apart, giving the Pride a 9-4 lead at halftime.
Widener had an answer for nearly every Misericordia goal and would not let the Cougars back in the contest. The Pride scored less than three minutes after every Misericordia goal in the second half and never led by less than five over the final 30:19.
Widener earned a 22-9 edge in draw controls.
Porter finished with five goals and two assists for the Pride (5-5, 3-3). Walz recorded five goals on just six shots and Harnden totaled three goals and two assists. Junior Linda Salcedo (Media, PA) made 12 saves in just over 46 minutes.
Emily Foley notched five goals and an assist for the Cougars (2-7, 0-6).
Widener on Wednesday travels to Edwardsville, PA for a Middle Atlantic Conference game against Wilkes, beginning at 4:00 pm.
