Women's Lacrosse Dealt Loss at No. 16 Messiah

Widener ran into a formidable opponent in No. 16 Messiah and was dealt a 17-0 Middle Atlantic Conference defeat in Grantham, PA.
 
Messiah scored five goals in just under the first nine minutes, including two from Cecilia Kjellman in the span of 14 seconds. The Falcons capitalized on a 16-5 shots advantage in the first half, earning a 10-0 lead at halftime.
 
The hosts also got the job done on the defensive end, limiting Widener to just two second half shots.
 
Meghan Doolittle finished with three goals and two assists for the Falcons (5-1, 2-0 MAC). Rachel Dirksen, Kara Geiman and Kjellman all totaled four points each.
 
Junior Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) registered three shots for the Pride (3-4, 1-2).
 
Widener on Saturday hosts Lycoming for a rematch from last season's Middle Atlantic Conference first round, beginning at 1:00 pm.
