Jason Ferrie (Royersford, PA) pitched great over seven innings and fellow junior Dan Sieracki (Cherry Hill, NJ) had three RBI for Widener in a 10-5 triumph over Rose-Hulman in Winter Haven, FL.
Ferrie (1-0), a second team All-Commonwealth Conference pick last season, struck out nine to fall one short of a career best. He yielded three earned runs and seven hits.
Sieracki clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI double as part of his three-hit day. Senior Alex Oliver (Lebanon, NJ) had three hits and two RBI with senior Tom Mahoney (Norristown, PA) adding two hits and an RBI for the Pride (3-1).
The Engineers fell to 2-1.
Widener on Tuesday battles St. John Fisher in a doubleheader, beginning at noon.
