Women's Swimming Rolls Past Washington (MD); Men's Swimming Falls

Widener women's swimming team cruised to a 111-85 triumph over Washington (MD) and the men's squad dropped a 125-79 contest at Schwartz Center.
 
Sophomores Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO) each were part of three victories that included two relays.  The 200-yard medley relay team closed in 1:54.47 and also included junior Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) and freshman Caitlyn Howard (Cherry Hill, NJ).  The 200-yard freestyle relay squad ended in 1:43.72 and also included sophomores Alicia Detweiler (Perkasie, PA) and Sara Leonelli (Vineland, NJ).
 
Harris grabbed the 50-yard freestyle in 24.88 seconds and Farrar took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.68.
 
Lake captured the 100-yard freestyle in 55.47 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.21.  Sophomore Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:31.61 and the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:18.51.
 
Howard took the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.48, junior Kathryn Gavlick (Ashley, PA) won the 200-yard IM in 2:20.49 and senior Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA) captured the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.17.
 
On the men's side, senior Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.11 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:05.12.  Sophomore Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) grabbed the 100-yard backstroke in 54.46 seconds and freshman Vadim Belogorodsky (Huntingdon Valley, PA) took the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:46.58.
 
The men's team returns to the pool January 11 at Division I Villanova, starting at 5:00 pm.  The women do not compete again until January 21 at Elizabethtown, beginning at 1:00 pm.
