Men's And Women's Swimming Fall To Drexel

Widener's men's and women's swimming teams competed with Division I Drexel, but fell short 104-80 and 110-89, respectively, in the teams' 2011-12 season opener.
 
Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD), Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO), Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and Carly Wray (Ocean View, NJ) teamed up to take first place in the women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.25. Farrar also took first place in two other races, the 200-yard IM in 2:16.51 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.41.
 
Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ) came in second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:30.16 as well as the 500-yard freestyle in 5:37.90. Lake and Harris also finished second in their individual races. Lake finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.75 and Harris finished with a time of 24.97 in her 50-yard freestyle.
 
The men's 200-yard medley relay team, which consisted of Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA), Jeff Colarusso (Hanover Township, PA), Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) and Ray Conover (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ) finished third in 1:46.02. Lawley also took first in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.19. Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) took first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.03 and Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) also grabbed first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.31.
 
Widener travels to Scranton for their next meet on October 29 beginning at 1:00 pm.
