Men's and Women's Swimming Roll to Victories at Cabrini

Widener women's swimming team remained perfect against Division III schools this season with a 126-62 victory over Cabrini and the men cruised to a 130-53 triumph at Cabrini in Radnor, PA.
 
Freshman Samantha Thorne (Havertown, PA) won three times for the Pride (7-2), who are 7-0 against Division III foes. Her lone individual win came in the 50-yard freestyle, which she took in 26.16 seconds.
 
Thorne also was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that won in 2:00.93 and included sophomore Kathryn Gavlick (Ashley, PA), Kaitlin Harnish (Havertown, PA) and fellow freshman Kerry McIntyre (Wilmington, DE).
 
Thorne was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that was tops in 1:44.19 and included sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD), Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and fellow freshman Carli Rapp (Reading, PA).
 
Lake took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.92, Harris won the 200-yard IM in 2:15.30, McIntyre grabbed the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.69 and Rapp captured the 100-yard freestyle in 58.58 seconds.
 
Samantha Greiner (Folcroft, PA) took the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.06, fellow freshman Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:34.49, Alicia Detweiler (Perkasie, PA) was tops in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.72 and fellow freshman Jennifer Barkofski (Norristown, PA) grabbed the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:27.79.
 
Senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) had three victories, grabbing the 100-yard freestyle in 49.79 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.41 for Widener (6-3). He was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team in 1:41.93 that also comprised of senior Steve Goss (Allentown, PA), sophomore Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) and freshman Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA).
 
Lawley grabbed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.92, senior Jim Senerth (Avon, CT) took the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:44.92 and junior Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) won the 200-yard IM 2:05.87.
 
Junior Jeff Colarusso (Hanover Township, PA) took the 100-yard butterfly in 57.26 seconds and sophomore Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) won the 100-yard backstroke in 57.21 seconds.
 
Widener competes next at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships from February 11-13 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The men are the five-time reigning league winners.
