Swimming Notches Two Wins Over Elizabethtown

Widener's swim teams kept their respective winning streaks rolling as the women topped Elizabethtown 104-95 and the men won 76-58 in Middle Atlantic Conference meets at Schwartz Center.
 
Freshman Jennifer Barkofski (Norristown, PA) won three races to help the women (6-1, 3-0 MAC) win their sixth straight meet. She took the 200-yard IM in 2:21.03 and the 400-yard IM in 5:00.01. She also helped the 400-yard medley relay team win in 4:27.36. The team also included freshmen Kaitlin Harnish (Havertown, PA), Kerry McIntyre (Wilmington, DE) and Samantha Thorne (Havertown, PA).
 
Freshmen Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ), Carli Rapp (Reading, PA) and Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) all won two races each. Tighe captured the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:49.65, Rapp won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.27 and Harris broke yet another school record by taking the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.17, over two seconds better than the previous mark.
 
The trio also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with sophomore Marikate Cook (Southampton, PA), stopping the clock in 3:57.60.
 
Sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.98 and freshman Sara Leonelli (Vineland, NJ) took the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:41.02.
 
Senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) and sophomore Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) won three times each for the men (5-2, 3-0), who have won four straight meets. Bregman captured the 50-yard freestyle in 22.37 seconds and won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.33. Roth took the 200-yard IM in 2:04.16 and won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.64.
 
The two also helped the 400-yard medley relay team win in 3:41.65. The team also included freshman Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) and junior Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA).
 
Corcoran also won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:19.92.
 
Juniors Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) and Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) won two races each. Schindler captured the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.79 and took the 400-yard IM in 4:29.62. Mulligan won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:23.06 and took the 500-yard freestyle in 5:00.88.
 
Sophomore Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:15.14.
 
The Pride host Division I Delaware on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
