Women's Lacrosse Wins Fourth Straight, 20-10 Over Lebanon Valley

Widener opened a big lead and held on for its fourth straight victory, 20-10 over Middle Atlantic Conference foe Lebanon Valley at Edith R. Dixon Field.

 

Sophomore Rachel Porter (Medford, NJ) scored six goals and senior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) had five for the Pride (5-2, 3-0 MAC), who ended with a 38-22 shots edge.  Junior Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ) netted three goals, Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) dished four assists and fellow sophomore Linda Salcedo (Media, PA) made eight saves over 40 1/2 minutes.

 

Hana Krechel had three goals and three assists for the Dutchmen (4-2, 2-1).

 

Widener opened an 11-2 halftime lead with Elliott scoring four goals and had a 16-5 cushion with 18:16 remaining.  The Dutchmen scored the next five goals to close to 16-10 before the pride rattled off the next four.

 

Widener on Tuesday visits Swarthmore at 7:00 pm as part of the “320 Challenge,” the inaugural series pitting the schools in their 19 shared sports.  The Pride need just one more point to win the title.
