Men's Basketball Posts 77-62 Victory at Arcadia

Senior Bobby Edmunds (Linwood, NJ) scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures and help Widener to its fourth victory in six games, a 77-62 Commonwealth Conference triumph at Arcadia in Glenside, PA.

 

Widener (13-11, 6-7 CC) took matters into its own hands with a 16-2 run to begin the second half for a 48-32 lead with 13:15 remaining.  Edmunds and sophomore Onyi Ezeala (Piscataway, NJ) netted four points apiece in the run.

 

Edmunds, who scored 11 points in the second half, shot 9-for-12 from the foul line for the Pride.  This helped the squad go 20-for-28 overall compared to only 5-for-11 for the Knights.

 

BJ Smith (Baltimore, MD) scored 11 points, with fellow sophomore Perry Wright (Severn, MD) and freshman Adam Ahern (West Grove, PA) netting 10 points apiece off the bench for Widener.

 

Jose Ortiz scored 16 points off the bench, Jason Thompson poured in 15 and Khalief Trawick netted 10 for the Knights (6-17, 0-13).

Widener sits one-half game behind Elizabethtown and Lebanon Valley (6-6) for the fourth and final conference tournament spot.

 

Widener on Saturday finishes the regular season at Lycoming.  Tip-off in Williamsport, PA is 3:00 pm.
