Widener's women's swimming team extended its winning streak to four, recording a 78-68 victory over FDU-Florham, and the men notched a 76-65 triumph.
Freshman Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO) won four races for the Pride (4-1, 2-0), including three individual victories. She took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.48, the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.28 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.72.
Farrar also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team win in 1:42.26. The team included sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) and freshmen Carli Rapp (Reading, PA) and Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD).
Harris continued her assault on the school record books, grabbing the 100-yard backstroke and breaking a 14-year old mark, finishing in 59.81 seconds. She now holds four school records, including three individual marks.
Sophomore Kathryn Gavlick (Ashley, PA) took the 100-yard freestyle in 58.38 seconds. Erica Szpynda (Berwick, PA) captured the 50-yard freestyle in 27.25 seconds and fellow freshman Jennifer Barkofski (Norristown, PA) won the 400-yard IM, stopping the clock in 4:57.40.
Senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won three times for the men (3-2, 2-0). He captured the 50-yard freestyle in 22.61 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 57.35.
Bregman also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team win in 1:30.28. The team included sophomore Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) and freshmen Joseph Matarazzo (Drexel Hill, PA) and Brandon Kitchen (Warrior Run, PA).
Matarazzo also grabbed the 200-yard freestyle, stopping the clock in 1:55.01.
Senior Collin Canfield (Voorhees, NJ) captured the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.37. Jeff Colarusso (Hanover Township, PA) took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.27 and fellow junior Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) won the 100-yard freestyle in 51.31 seconds.
The swim teams are back in action next Saturday, November 20 when they travel to Glassboro, NJ to compete in the Rowan Cup, beginning at 10:00 am.
