Widener fought back to tie its game with Haverford, only to fall 5:59 into overtime for a tough 2-1 loss in Haverford, PA.
Haverford (6-1-2) got on the board in the 25th minute. Colin Lubelczyk took the ball on the left near the end line and fed a pass to Alejandro Rettig y Martinez, who put it into the net for a 1-0 contest.
Widener (4-7-1) leveled things five minutes into the second half. Freshman Derek Brubaker (Lancaster, PA) took a loose ball 12 yards away and fired one past goalkeeper Jamey Applegate for his fourth goal of the year.
The Pride's defense did a solid job in the second half by limiting the Fords to only six shots.
However, Haverford ended the match as Rettig y Martinez connected on a 15-yard shot off a pass from David Restrepo. Rettig y Martinez closed with six shots to help the Fords, ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, end with an 18-8 advantage.
Sophomore Drew Hilinski (Perkasie, PA) took four shots and junior Ryan Frantz (Marlton, NJ) made four saves for the Pride.
