Senior Caryinna Yenchak (Ashley, PA) scored for Widener, which ended with a 1-1 Commonwealth Conference tie at Alvernia in Reading, PA.
Yenchak scored an unassisted tally in the 27th minute for her seventh goal of the year, giving Widener a 1-0 cushion. She trails juniors Brittany Harvis (Delran, NJ) and Brittany Harvis (Medford, NJ) for the team lead.
Alvernia tied it in the 48th minute when Amy Mesce netted her 11th goal of the year.
Widener had four shots in the overtimes that included three in the second 10-minute period. Yenchak had two of them that were stopped by goalkeeper Kirsten Kelley.
Yenchak closed with four shots and sophomore Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) played solidly with 10 saves for the Pride.
Rachel Gimber took four shots and Kelley ended with six saves for the Crusaders (11-3-2, 2-1-3 CC).
Widener (11-3-2, 2-2-2) is tied for fourth place in the conference and the last league tournament spot with Elizabethtown, but holds the tiebreaker by virtue of its 2-1 head-to-head win last Tuesday.
The teams hold a one-point edge over Lebanon Valley, Widener's opponent on the last day of the season. Match time in Annville, PA is noon.
