Both Widener's men's and women's swimming teams gave their best, but fell 144-106 and 146-108, respectively, in their season opener against Division I Drexel in Philadelphia, PA.
Sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) took the 100-yard freestyle in 55.97 seconds for the women (0-1) and freshman Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) won the 200-yard IM in 2:13.88.
Senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) captured two second places for the men (0-1), finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 22.70 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.71. Freshman Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) took second in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 55.26 seconds.
The men hold a 14-meet winning streak over Division III opponents.
Widener opens its home slate on October 30 against Scranton, beginning at 1:00 pm.
