No. 23 Widener owned a decided shots advantage and got a penalty kick goal from junior Brittany Balentine (Medford, NJ) to earn a 1-1 Commonwealth Conference tie with Albright at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Albright (5-3-3, 0-0-1 CC) got a huge break in the 75th minute to get on the board. Alissa Marcarelli put a cross in the box that deflected off a Widener defender and in for a 1-0 contest.
The Pride (8-1-1, 0-0-1) got even in the 84th minute. Junior Brittany Harvis (Delran, NJ) was taken down in the box and Balentine converted the 12-yard shot for her sixth goal of the year.
Balentine, Harvis and senior Caryinna Yenchak (Ashley, PA) had three shots apiece for Widener, which ended with a 16-2 edge. Sophomore Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) needed to make just one save.
Olivia Giuliano stopped eight shots for the Lady Lions.
Widener on Tuesday hosts Wesley, beginning at 4:00 pm.
