Swimming Records Another Daily Double at Elizabethtown

Widener's men's swimming team won all 11 events in a 152-22 triumph Middle Atlantic Conference win at Elizabethtown and the women notched a 114-91 victory.

Junior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won three times, including twice in the relays. He helped the 200-yard medley relay team close in 1:43.57 and the squad also included sophomore Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA), Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) and fellow freshman Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA).  He also was on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that won in 1:31.87 and included Moore, sophomore Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) and junior Justin Gorbey (Secane, PA).

Bregman took the 50-yard freestyle in 22.83 seconds.

Deighan also was victorious three times with two individual wins. He grabbed the 200-yard IM 2:02.17 and the 100-yard backstroke in 57.51 seconds.

Jim Senerth (Avon, CT) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:39.94 and fellow junior Dalton Schiller (Media, PA) grabbed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.84. Steve Goss (Allentown, PA) took the 100-yard butterfly in 58.16 seconds, fellow junior Greg Golden (Vineland, NJ) won the 100-yard freestyle in 51.26 seconds, Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) grabbed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:04.50 and fellow sophomore Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.67.

The Pride (8-1, 4-0 MAC) have won eight straight meets and are 8-0 against Division III opponents.

The women took the 200-yard medley relay in 1:58.96. The team was comprised of Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA), fellow senior Elin Berlin (Stockholm, Sweden), sophomore Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA) and freshman Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD).

Moir won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:08.51 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.04. Lake captured the 200-yard IM in 2:19.36 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.08. Berlin took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.21 and senior Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA) won the 100-yard freestyle in 59.05 seconds.

Widener (4-5, 3-1) notched its third straight win.

The Pride on Wednesday visit Division I Delaware at 6:00 pm in their final meet before the MAC Championships.
