Ziegler's Pair of Second Half Goals Lift Men's Soccer Past Washington (MD), 3-1

(boxscore)

Sophomore Brad Ziegler (Medford, NJ) scored two second half goals in the span of less than seven minutes, leading Widener to a 3-1 victory over Washington (MD) at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0 late in the first half, Widener's offense exploded for three goals in the second half.  Sophomore Dan Lorenzet (Forest Hill, MD) tied the game in the 58th minute after receiving a pass from senior Andrew Sinclair (Bensalem, PA) just inside the box.  Ziegler scored the game-winner in the 69th minute with help from Lorenzet, and then buried another in the 76th minute on Sinclair's second assist of the night.

Freshman DJ DiPaola (Haverford, PA) and junior Justin Hovaker (Pasadena, MD) posted four shots each for the Pride (3-4-1), who finished with a 23-12 shot advantage, including a 15-5 edge in the second half.

Senior Hamed Correa (Cali, Colombia) recorded the win, making two saves for Widener, who remains unbeaten (3-0-1) at home this season.

Matt Sedney scored the lone goal for the Shoremen (2-5), and  goalkeeper Chris Phipps made nine saves.
