Sophomore Brittany Balentine (Medford, NJ) scored nine seconds into the second overtime, lifting Widener to a dramatic 2-1 win over Buffalo State at the Kickoff Classic in Lancaster, PA.

Balentine took a pass from sophomore Brittany Harvis (Delran, NJ) off a breakaway and beat goalkeeper Meghan Jarrell to send Widener (4-0) to the final.  It capped a day in which the Pride had a 12-10 shots edge, including 10-6 following halftime.

Harvis scored in the 49th minute off Balentine's assist to give Widener a 1-0 lead.  Buffalo State (0-1-3) responded in the 70th minute on a tally from Vicki Wagner.

Senior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) made four saves in 45 minutes and freshman Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) had three in just over 55 minutes for the Pride.

Jarrell ended with four saves.

Widener on Saturday plays Farmingdale State at 3:30 pm.
