Jackie Elliott Ties Women's Lacrosse's Single-Season Scoring Record in Loss at Eastern

(boxscore)

Junior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) took another step in the Widener record book, but it was not enough in the team's 19-7 Middle Atlantic Conference loss at Eastern.

Elliott netted her third goal of the game 4 1/2 minutes into the second half, helping Widener close to 11-7. It was her 64th goal of the year, tying her with Courtney Papp for the school's single-season mark set in 1991.

But that would be the Pride's final goal as the Eagles (9-6, 7-3 MAC) rattled off the next eight tallies. Jessie Basch scored three times in that span and Katie Choquette netted a pair.

Sophomore Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ) scored twice and senior Grace Cavanaugh (Voorhees, NJ) dished a pair of assists for Widener (7-9, 3-7). Freshman Linda Salcedo (Media, PA) made nine saves in just over 46 minutes.

Basch and Grace Griffith scored five goals apiece for Eastern.

Widener closes its season Saturday at Wilkes, beginning at 1:00 pm.
