Junior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) scored eight goals and helped key the decisive second half for Widener in an 18-11 Middle Atlantic Conference victory at Arcadia in Glenside, PA.
Elliott scored five goals in the second half for the Pride (7-8, 3-6 MAC), who outscored the Knights 11-4 during that span after it was 7-7 at the break. Sophomore Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ), who tallied a career-best six goals, netted three in the second half.
Elliott now has 61 goals this season, tied for the second-best mark in Widener annals. The record of 64 was set by Courtney Patton in 1991. Elliott's 115 career goals are tied with Erin Smith (1992-95) for second in school history.
Shannon Bustin and Melanie Mark scored three goals apiece for Arcadia (2-10, 1-8). Evelyn Ciaburri stopped 13 shots.
It is a quick turnaround for Widener, which visits Eastern on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm start.
