Jackie Elliott Continues to Shine for Women’s Lacrosse in 18-11 Rout at Arcadia

(boxscore)

Junior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) scored eight goals and helped key the decisive second half for Widener in an 18-11 Middle Atlantic Conference victory at Arcadia in Glenside, PA.

Elliott scored five goals in the second half for the Pride (7-8, 3-6 MAC), who outscored the Knights 11-4 during that span after it was 7-7 at the break. Sophomore Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ), who tallied a career-best six goals, netted three in the second half.

Elliott now has 61 goals this season, tied for the second-best mark in Widener annals. The record of 64 was set by Courtney Patton in 1991. Elliott's 115 career goals are tied with Erin Smith (1992-95) for second in school history.

Senior Grace Cavanaugh (Voorhees, NJ) scored twice and freshman Linda Salcedo (Media, PA) made seven saves for the Pride.

Shannon Bustin and Melanie Mark scored three goals apiece for Arcadia (2-10, 1-8). Evelyn Ciaburri stopped 13 shots.

It is a quick turnaround for Widener, which visits Eastern on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm start.
