Women's Lacrosse Falls at Messiah

Widener opened Middle Atlantic Conference play with a 16-3 loss at Messiah in Grantham, PA.

Junior Brittany Dippolito (Pennsauken, NJ) scored for Widener 2:18 into the contest, before Messiah reeled off the next 11 goals.

Sophomore Calina Walz (Medford, NJ) and freshman Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) also scored for the Pride (3-2, 0-1 MAC), who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Walz ended with four draw controls, Emily Solt (Claymont, DE) had four ground balls and fellow freshman Shelley O'Neill (Brookfield, NH) made 15 saves.

Rachel Dirksen and Megan Bovenzi scored four goals and Jen Venter stopped eight shots for the Falcons (2-1, 1-0).

Widener is home Tuesday against Swarthmore, beginning at 5:00 pm.
