Baseball Handed 4-2 Loss at Kean

Widener could not hold an early lead and was dealt a 4-2 loss at Kean in Union, NJ.
 
The Pride (4-5) struck for two runs in the top of the first inning. Tom Connelly (Media, PA) had an RBI groundout and fellow junior Colin Keelan (Ellicott City, MD) followed with a run-scoring single.
 
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Kean (8-1) scored twice in the frame to take the lead for good. D.J. Breckenridge tied it on an RBI single and Nick Ramagli lined a run-scoring single to right field for a 3-2 cushion.
 
Trailing 4-2 in the ninth, Widener got the tying runs aboard. Senior Mike Cahill (Spring Lake, NJ) singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and took third as sophomore Tom DeAngelis (Pottstown, PA) reached on a two-out error by Ramagli at shortstop. But DeAngelis was thrown out trying to steal second for the finale.
 
Coatesville, PA junior Dan Gross (0-2) gave up three runs and six hits over seven innings for Widener, which managed only five hits.
 
Sam Fourre got the win in relief, yielding one hit over 3 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Brandon Aich recorded the final two outs for the save.
 
Widener is home Wednesday against Neumann, beginning at 3:00 pm.
