Women's Lacrosse Drops Tough 11-9 Contest at Haverford in Season Opener

Sophomore Mellany Broomall (Clarksboro, NJ) scored three goals, but it was not enough for Widener in an 11-9 season-opening loss at Haverford.

Broomall's last goal with 1:55 left brought Widener within 10-9. But Josie Ferri scored for Haverford (2-0) with 76 seconds remaining for the final.

In addition to Broomall notching her first hat trick, juniors Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA) and Brittany Dippolitto (Pennsauken, NJ) each scored twice. Senior Grace Cavanaugh (Voorhees, NJ) and freshman Jen Harnden (Hershey, PA) also tallied for the Pride (0-1).

Widener on Tuesday visits Linfield in McMinnville, OR. Game time is 8:00 pm EST.
