Widener's men's swimming team again was impressive in a 124-78 Middle Atlantic Conference victory at Albright and the women suffered a 109-93 loss in Reading, PA.
Junior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) won twice for the men, taking the 50-yard freestyle in 22.42 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 48.36 seconds. Junior Dalton Schiller (Media, PA) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.68 and sophomore Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) took the 200-yard IM in 2:01.34.
Freshman Brandon Smith (Marietta, PA) grabbed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:00.67 and sophomore Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.45. The men's 400-yard medley relay team was victorious in 4:16.52 and consisted of Deighan, Smith, Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) and fellow freshman Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA).
Freshman Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.12. She was on the winning 400-yard medley relay team that also included seniors Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA), Elin Berlin (Stockholm, Sweden) and Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA).
The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team won in 3:58.96 and was comprised of Thrasher, senior Catherine Hahn (Thorofare, NJ), junior Molly Bendzyn (Cherry Hill, NJ) and sophomore Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA).
Widener next Saturday visits FDU-Florham for a 1:00 pm conference meet in Madison, NJ.
