Swimming Rolls to Two Wins at FDU-Florham

Widener had a pair of swimmers win three times as the men posted a 135-43 Middle Atlantic Conference triumph at FDU-Florham and the women recorded a 124-72 victory in Madison, NJ.

 

Freshman Nick Moore (Philadelphia, PA) was on two relay winners, first helping the 400-yard medley relay team finish in 3:22.14 that also consisted of senior Matt Slomiany (Lansdale, PA), freshman Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) and senior Pete Galick (Willingboro, NJ).  He also was on the 400-yard freestyle relay team that won in 3:35.73 and included Ray Conover (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ), fellow freshman Brandon Smith (Marietta, PA) and junior Collin Canfield (Voorhees, NJ).

 

Moore also won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.16.

 

Junior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.24, sophomore Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) grabbed the 50-yard freestyle in 23.69 seconds and Slomiany won the 200-yard IM in 2:05.82.  Freshman Tim Merli (Jessup, PA) grabbed the 100-yard butterfly in 57.01 seconds, Galick took the 100-yard freestyle in 52.38 seconds and sophomore Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.57.

 

Freshman Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) won three times, taking the 200-yard IM in 2:23.20 and the 100-yard freestyle in 57.22 seconds.  She also was on the 400-yard medley relay team that won in 4:28.00 and included senior Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA), Kathryn Gavlick (Ashley, PA) and fellow freshman Rachel Lewinson (West Windsor, NJ).

 

Thrasher won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:45.01 and Gavlick grabbed the 27.59 seconds.  Freshman Marikate Cook (Southampton, PA) took the 100-yard backstroke in 1:12.17, sophomore Shannon MacCormick (Bryn Mawr, PA) won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.09 and freshman Hayley Conover (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ) grabbed the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:55.72.

 

Widener is off until December 4, when it competes at the Swarthmore Invitational.
