Widener's men's swimming team notched a 108-97 victory at Scranton and the women dropped a 122-83 meet.
Senior Matt Slomiany (Lansdale, PA) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:39.74 and sophomore Joe Deighan (Wyomissing, PA) took the 200-yard IM in 2:04.78 for Widener (1-1). Junior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) captured the 100-yard freestyle in 49.41 seconds and freshman Brandon Smith (Marietta, PA) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.78.
The men's 400-yard medley relay team won in 3:42.65 and consisted on Bregman, Deighan, Michael Roth (Columbia, MD) and fellow freshman Bob Horn (Folcroft, PA).
Freshman Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) won the women's 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.12 and fellow freshman Kathryn Gavlik (Ashley, PA) captured the 200-yard IM in 2:23.70 for the Pride (0-2).
The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team was victorious in 3:52.74. The squad was made up of Lake, Tyla Conicello (West Conshohocken, PA), fellow senior Emma Thrasher (Gettysburg, PA) and sophomore Carlee Moir (Broomall, PA).
Widener on Wednesday hosts Swarthmore as part of the “320 Challenge.” The meet begins at 6:00 pm.
