Freshman Devan Doyle (Woodbury Heights, NJ) scored 7:30 into overtime as Widener rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 3-2 victory at Lycoming in the Commonwealth Conference opener in Williamsport, PA.
Doyle took a pass from junior Caryinna Yenchak (Ashley, PA) and deposited her first collegiate goal. This capped a span in which Widener (9-1-1, 1-0 CC) owned a 10-0 shots edge after halftime and 15-5 overall.
Sam Baer (Lancaster, PA) scored twice to rescue Widener and square the match. She tallied off a feed from junior Rachel Kyprianou (Shrewsbury, PA) in the 37th minute and buried a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Kelly Prendergast tallied in the 16th minute to open the scoring for the Warriors and Kaitlin Horn made it 2-0 with her goal in the 21st minute.
Senior Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ) made five saves in the opening half for Widener (9-1-1, 1-0 CC), which remains tied with the 1995 squad for the best start in school history.
Chelsea Powers had six for Lycoming (6-5-1, 0-1).
